I don't even know what to think of these anymore. I appreciate what he's trying to tell us, but I wonder if that's enough of a development in his work to merit praising it as a major step forward?
Is purposefully slapdash "no I didn't live in the East Village in the 70s, why do you ask" painting really the antidote to Koons/Hirst/Murakami subprime market saturation? Can't you Noo Yawkers do better than that?
