Michael Parker May Day: Control the Power - Follow the Energy
April 28, 2009 - May 5, 2009

PR: "May Day: Control the Power - Follow the Energy" consists of a series of video and photography created this semester with the Lineman Class at Los Angeles Trade Technical College (LATTC). The Lineman Class is a course teaching the skills and precision required of a power pole technician. The fifty person class meets 6:45am–2:30pm five days per week, with the first artwork presentation ("May Day") two-thirds of the way through the sixteen week term. A second show is planned at LATTC in late May at the end of the course.

this show was solid. good concept, competent execution, community aspect--i think it's among the more interesting things roski staged this year.

yeah, i think it was successful for what it was. a little rudimentary overall, but definitely, as jim says, "solid" enough.

his studio is better than his exhibition. why aren't people daring?! "a thesis show should look like such and such." pfft.

there is a second public presentation of the project on Tuesday June 2 from 1-2:30pm at the Los Angeles Trade-Technical College poleyard located at Flower St and Washington Blvd. A yearbook-as-newspaper and climbing and a lineman dj harmonizing with the BlueLine will be there. Sort of the the conceptual next step of the thesis project. your blog is great.
